I'll post the finished comic tomorrow. Here's the panel 1 pencils as a place holder.

Okay, here's the comic.

Even your quick sketches are complete works of art that make me jealous as a mofo. You honestly have a gift.

Stats?
Songgu Kwon 12th Apr 2013, 9:20 PM edit delete reply

Okay. Let's call it a...

GIMBIL

FREQUENCY: Rare
ARMOR CLASS: 3
HIT DICE: 1-4
NO. OF ATTACKS: 1
DAMAGE/ATTACK: 1
SPECIAL ATTACK: Poison
MAGIC RESISTANCE: 25%
INTELLIGENCE: Average
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic neutral
SIZE: S (2" tall)

The gimbil sometimes inhabits old trees. A mature gimbil is always armed with a tiny spiked club made of iron. It is not known how they are produced as there is no evidence that they are capable of blacksmithing.

Sometimes, the spikes will be poisonous, which either causes 1-4 additional damage or paralysis for 2-8 rounds.

They are fond of gambling and drink.

The wrist bracer is a very nice touch.
Side note: According to H Rider Haggard, 'S'gee!' was the sound a Zulu warrior made as he stuck the foot-long blade of his assegai into his enemy. Now this. Some sounds, you just don't ever want to hear.

that is a fascinating tidbit of information, Pharphacide! @SKwon- i'd like to know if the Gimbils Gamble and Drink in the Wabe? Also, how do they get on with Gyres?

Cool! Now I want one. Shaka of the Zulu modified the standard assegai (which is basically a javelin), shortening the shaft to 2 feet with a broader blade for better Roman legion style shield and sword fighting. This weapon was called "iklwa" or "ixwa" for the sound it makes when exiting the enemy's body. This is good info for comic book writers, I suppose.

And yes, gimbils get along famously with gyres... and they do frequent the Wabe quite often. And contrary to Mr. Carroll's account, not ALL mimsy were the borogoves.

Don't gamble with a Gimbil.

Gimbils don't like to lose. They're like tiny wookies that way.

I think I see Durgo in panel 6, with the same haircut 30 years on. But it looks good on him. And Kneeflayer in hand. Durgo is an outcast because of the enemies he made defeating Hrodger, or both he and Blackfeather are outcasts simply because their side in the civil war lost. While she sticks around in this kingdom, and doesn't return to Elfland, because she wants to change things for the better, Durgo no longer fights for a cause. The arrow was not likely a suicidal gesture, or an indication she outclasses Durgo. More likely, it was her way of re-introducing herself -- at the cost of one of Durgo's henchmen's life? -- in hopes of rekindling Durgo's sense of purpose. War buddies reunited.

I...I just love the whole 'Bird and the Shell game' in the first panel. That just makes the whole page for me!

Yup. I like that panel the best myself. In fact, that would've made a good lazy one panel comic.
