Heh, an hour of combat, in 60+ pounds of armor is nothing to sneeze at

They should have a pentathlon-like competitive event with athletes in plate armor. I would totally be a fan.

Decades ago I knew a Foot Jouster—a radical SCA group that used live steel in choreographed duels—who jogged dailly five miles in his real 60 pound hauberk!

Me thinks the noble didn't have a sufficient training regiment...

Running 5 miles in a 60lb hauberk... Now that's endurance! Hrodger spent too much time partying instead of training, perhaps.

I always thought wearing say, 60 lbs of chain armor would effect you about the same as wearing 60 lbs of plate armor but apparently not. This article only skims the subject but my understanding is that the heavier armor on the limbs, especially legs would cause more fatigue.

So that's how Hrodger survived his duel with Durgo. But if Durgo and Blackfeather part ways after this encounter, how will it affect the main story line going forward? Aside from Clarence's stitches, and some future cameo appearances by Khojin, et al., there would not appear to be any lasting effect. Unless Blackfeather & Co. team up with a larger party again, they seem set for more low-level adventures, like the rather perfunctory rout of a band of undead shown before this brief alliance with Durgo. However brief an interlude it may have been, not counting flashbacks, it was thrilling to see our heroes take on a real boss -- the jumbo Grell -- for a change. (The dream of taking on Katangar was apparently just practice).

Hrodger survived the duel but died 10 years later of the dancing plague.

Well, Durgo's not picture Blackfeather without... erm... Yes, good journeys to all! :-)

Figures. Hrodger always had a problem with eating too much fried food. That, and all those medieval Twinkies he ate, ruined him!

That St. Etienne cane would make a nice present for my dad, but I think that's the wrong link. Is this the dancing plague you were thinking of? <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_Plague_of_1518>

Heh heh, oops. This link:

I like how most medieval diseases feature pustulant boils. Kinda makes sense... it made diagnosis a no brainer: yup, you're definitely not well...

If you like athletics in full armour, you should check out the SCA:

Sir Hrodger is going to have to bathe or he's going to soil his pantaloons.

Luckily, he always travels with 2 spare battle pantaloons.
