The fighting stances are based on an old Italian manual on sword fighting, Flos Duellatorum (“Flower of Battle”). Posta Falcone means 'Guard of the Falcon', Porta di Ferro Mezzana is 'Half Iron Door.' There's been a great surge of interest in medieval & renaissance swordsmanship in the last 15 years or so. Google 'Italian longsword techniques' if you're curious.

As for elf girl's thoughts, she's on the verge of inventing pizza in her mind. I guess that joke's a bit vague. :p

Nice, l picked up two sword play manuals a while back, one bushido, the other was aimed at stage acting (for the illustrations), you have them posed spot on!

Thanks, Draginbeard. It's interesting to note that there are more similarities between Eastern and Western swordsmanship than differences. I guess seeing as how everyone has 2 arms and 2 legs, they were bound to have arrived at similar conclusions about how best to fight with a long bladed weapon.

You're right. The angle of her sword is definitely leaning into Boar's Tooth territory. ;)
